Can Mirabilis jalapa be planted in a pot?

1. Can be planted in pots

As long as we are familiar with the habits of Mirabilis jalapa and create a suitable growth environment for it, we can plant Mirabilis jalapa in a flowerpot.

Mirabilis jalapa does not belong to the Jasmine family, so its growth habits are very different from those of jasmine. It prefers a mild climate, and a slightly humid tropical climate is best for its growth. Because it is not very cold-resistant, when winter comes, the parts exposed above the ground will dry up and die. If it is planted in the Jiangnan region of my country, the parts buried deep underground can safely survive the winter.

At the same time, Mirabilis jalapa does not like too much sunlight. When growing Mirabilis jalapa, you need to provide it with an environment with less direct sunlight, otherwise it will shed its leaves. It should also be noted that a good ventilation environment is also an important factor in ensuring the healthy growth of Mirabilis jalapa.

2. Choice of flower pots

First of all, we need to choose a relatively large flowerpot, which can provide more space for the Mirabilis jalapa.

Secondly, the soil used for planting Mirabilis jalapa must be loose and fertile, and must be drained in time, which will help the cultivation of Mirabilis jalapa. If conditions permit, it is best to use soil containing humus, which can provide it with more nutrients.

Finally, the placement of the flower pots must also be considered carefully. It must be placed indoors at a temperature above 15 degrees Celsius, and attention must be paid to the sunlight exposure. It is best to provide a slightly shaded place for the Mirabilis jalapa to prevent leaf shedding. As mentioned earlier, the flowers of Mirabilis jalapa will open after noon. In fact, its flowers will close as soon as they encounter strong sunlight, which is why its flowering period is very short.

As long as we do the above points, we can use flower pots to grow Mirabilis jalapa.
