It is planted once a year in North China, mainly before Qingming Festival, and transplanted in April-May. The Northeast region has early-maturing single-season rice, and the specific sowing time is April.

Northeast rice sowing method

Northeast rice needs to be sown at a suitable temperature. Generally, the temperature needs to be above 7 degrees, and the ground temperature at 5 cm reaches 8-10 degrees before sowing. After sowing, the seeds need to be covered with 0.5-1 cm of nutrient fine soil and watered thoroughly to allow them to germinate quietly.

Northeast rice needs thinning when it grows to a certain stage. The depth of transplanting should be kept at about 1.5 cm, and the number of seedlings in each hole should be kept uniform, generally maintained at 3-4 seedlings. It needs to be watered in time during the growth period, especially when the soil is dry. It also needs appropriate amount of topdressing to increase its yield.

If double-season rice is planted in Northeast China, it is best to choose extra early-maturing varieties. The first season rice can be planted in mid-April and harvested in August, with a growing period of 104 days. The second season rice can be harvested while transplanting, with a growing period of 87 days.
