How to raise Tang fan

How to raise Tang fan

Family farming methods

Lighting requirements

Tang fans are native to the Cape Province of South Africa. They prefer warm, dry and sunny environments, are resistant to drought and partial shade, and avoid stagnant water. They are afraid of both extreme heat and cold. Its main growing season is in spring and autumn, and it can be given sufficient light.

If there is insufficient light, the plant will grow too tall, become loose in shape, have thin leaves, and be difficult to bloom; while plants grown in places with sufficient sunlight have thick and full fleshy leaves, a compact and strong shape, and are more ornamental.

Water and fertilizer management

Watering: Remember to "don't water unless the soil is dry, and water thoroughly when you do", avoid waterlogging in the soil, and also avoid rain, especially long-term rain, otherwise it will easily cause root rot.

Fertilization: Apply well-rotted thin liquid fertilizer or "low nitrogen, high phosphorus and potassium" compound fertilizer once a month. Do not splash the fertilizer water onto the plants when fertilizing to avoid causing rot. The fertilizer liquid should not be too concentrated; it is better to be light and thin.

Reproduction method

Tang fan can be propagated by sowing, cuttings and division.

Precautions for domestication

Common pests of Tang fans: scale insects. Once found, brush it off immediately and spray it with pesticide.

Tangshan has tuberous roots and almost no stems. Special attention should be paid to water control in summer to prevent root rot.
