Introduction to Planting Crab Apple Trees

The sand apple tree is native to the Yellow River Basin in my country and has a cultivation history of more than 2,000 years. The red sand apple is the representative variety of sand apple. The largest red sand apple production base is in the eastern and southern mountainous areas of Taigu, Shanxi.

Taigu sand apple is a famous fruit with local characteristics. When we plant it, we usually choose the period after the leaves fall and before the germination, because this is the dormant period of the plant, so there are more nutrients stored in its body, so the success rate will be higher.

The fruit of the crab apple tree has been planted for several years.

It takes three years for the sand pear tree to bear fruit from planting. In order to make it bear more fruits, it is necessary to provide loose and fertile soil, control the planting density, and do a good job of field management.

Why don't the crab apple trees bear fruit?

The reason why the sand apple tree does not bear fruit may be that it is not pollinated. If it is transplanted, the roots will be damaged and it needs to recuperate. It will basically bear fruit in the second year. For the sand apple tree, if you are not careful about the soil, weather, fertilization, light, transplanting, etc., it will affect its fruiting.

Planting techniques and key points of crab apple trees

1. Site selection: The sand apple tree has strong adaptability to the environment and can be planted in areas below 2,100 meters above sea level. It prefers a warm, sunny, dry environment. It is drought-resistant and cold-resistant, but not water-resistant. It is suitable for planting in sandy soil with medium fertility, looseness, and good drainage. It cannot be planted in low-lying waterlogged clay.

2. Fertilizer and water: In autumn, you can apply well-rotted farmyard manure as base fertilizer to the sand pear tree. Generally, you must water it five times a year, four times from March to June, one time before freezing, and water it according to rainfall in July, August and September.
