How to save seeds of gerbera

Gerbera Seeds Introduction

African daisy has seeds, which mature in spring. The seeds are cylindrical in shape, about 4-5 mm long, densely covered with white short hairs, and turn light brown when dry.

How to save seeds of gerbera

Gerbera seeds are hidden under the feathery hairs, and most cannot be pollinated successfully, so they must be correctly identified before harvesting so that the seed pods can be collected.

After collecting gerbera seeds, you should first select seeds that are uniform in size and full, and then soak them in warm water for about 24 hours, which will help the seeds germinate better.

Gerbera Seed Propagation

Gerbera can be planted from seeds, and the time can be chosen from March to May in spring or September to October in autumn. Under normal circumstances, it will germinate in 5 days and bloom after 1-2 years.

Gerbera Seed Planting Method

1. Seed treatment

Soak the seeds in clean water for about 3 hours, then add an appropriate amount of potassium permanganate solution to sterilize and disinfect them before sowing.

2. Planting

Sow gerbera seeds into the prepared soil, then cover with a small amount of soil about 1 cm, water until the soil is moist, and then place in a cool place away from light for maintenance.
