Lily soil preparation method

Lily soil preparation method

Lily soil requirements

1. Lilies prefer slightly acidic soil, and some varieties can grow in soil with a pH value of about 6 to 7, so that they can grow well.

2. The root of lily is a fleshy bulb, so when choosing soil, you need to choose thick and good sandy loam for maintenance, so that the lily can grow more vigorously.

Lily soil preparation method

When preparing lily soil, you can mix garden soil, unwanted vegetable leaves, fruit peels, and cooked but unsalted bones in a ratio of 3:1:1 and leave it for 6-12 months before use.

Lily soil maintenance

1. If there are bugs in the soil of lilies, you can change the soil with bugs, dig out the bugs and throw them away, then buy some insecticide and spray it on the changed soil. In the subsequent care, keep the soil properly dry and avoid moisture.

2. Depending on the variety and habits of lilies, the soil should be changed once a year. When changing the soil, the soil should be fertile, well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral sandy loam. The soil can be a mixture of leaf mold, sandy soil, and garden soil in a ratio of 1:1:1.

3. It is okay to put wood ash in the soil for lilies, but the usage of wood ash also has its own rules. Wood ash is alkaline and needs to be mixed with garden soil when growing lilies. Garden soil in the south is generally acidic and sticky. Adding one-quarter of wood ash can neutralize the acidity while maintaining a certain degree of looseness and fertility.

4. Eggshells can be added to lily soil, but they must be decomposed and fermented. Lily soil added with eggshells will make it loose and breathable.
