How to grow magnolia in autumn

How to grow magnolia in autumn

1. Suitable temperature

Maintaining a warm environment throughout the autumn is extremely beneficial for its growth. Although its cold resistance is relatively good, it is best to move it indoors when the temperature is very low in late autumn. Temperatures that are too low will stunt its growth.

2. Adequate lighting

Magnolia itself is light-loving, and good light conditions must be provided in autumn. Of course, the light should not be too strong, such as the light at noon in late summer and early autumn. Normally, it is enough to provide diffuse light, but shade is needed when there is strong light.

3. Appropriate amount of water

Magnolia has very strict requirements for water, it cannot be too dry nor too waterlogged. Make sure to replenish water in time when the soil is dry, and also do a good job of draining water. In addition to watering, you also need to increase humidity by spraying water to control the relative humidity of the air.

4. Appropriate amount of fertilizer

Its requirement for fertilizer is mainly in October and November. Some well-rotted manure should be applied as base fertilizer in these two months.

5. Pest control

In autumn, the main pest threatening it is the "Pittosporum cotyledon". It will affect the ornamental value of the plant and also cause other diseases. During the incubation period, they can be killed using oxydemeton-methyl emulsifiable concentrate. If they are adults, they need to be killed with Supo Killer emulsion.
