How to grow jade tree into an old stump

If you want your jade plant to become an old stump tree, fertilizer is essential. You can place some animal manure at the bottom of the flowerpot, such as chicken manure, sheep manure, cow manure, etc. After these fertilizers are placed, we don’t need to fertilize the jade plant for basically half a year.

The best time to dig up old jade tree stumps is in autumn and spring, because the temperature is moderate in these two seasons, especially after repotting in spring, when it will enter a period of vigorous growth. When the temperature is too high or too low, it may cause the roots to have difficulty returning to the growth state, and the leaves may turn yellow and become soft.

Aerial roots growing on old stump of Jade Tree

If the jade plant grows aerial roots because the soil is too dry and it has not been watered for a long time, it is recommended that you water the jade plant in time to increase the water needed for its growth.

If the roots of the jade plant rot, the plant will not be able to absorb moisture from the soil through its root system to maintain its growth. At this time, aerial roots will grow from the intact nodes of the jade plant to provide moisture for the plant and facilitate its growth. At this time, the plant can be removed from the pot and the bad roots can be removed in time, so that the jade plant can continue to grow normally.

Precautions for maintenance of old jade tree stumps

1. Sunlight: If you want the jade plant to grow fast, it must have sufficient light. Except in the summer, when you need to block half of the sunlight, you can give the jade plant sufficient light at other times. If you grow a jade plant at home, you need to place it near the window or balcony in a well-lit place, and make sure it is well ventilated.

2. Water: The leaves of the jade plant are relatively thick and can store water, so do not water it too much. Just keep the soil moist. Generally, water it every 7-10 days. Do not allow water to accumulate in the jade plant pot. You can spray water on the leaves of the jade plant more often, which can clean the leaves and make them very shiny.

3. Pruning: When the jade plant is growing and developing, it will grow faster because of sufficient nutrition. At this time, a large pruning can be carried out, and the rest of the time it is just a small pruning to maintain the plant shape.
