Peony seed planting time

Peony is a perennial deciduous shrub. The best time to sow it is in autumn from August to September, when the climate is most suitable. It usually takes about 30 days for it to germinate after sowing.

How to plant peony seeds

1. Seed treatment: Before sowing, it is necessary to break the dormancy of peony seeds and soak them in warm water at 50℃ for a few days.

2. Planting: Disinfect the soil before sowing, add some base fertilizer into it, and then sow the seeds into it after treatment.

3. Post-management: Do not water the soil too much after planting, otherwise the soil will become hardened. If the temperature is too low, cover it with some straw for insulation.

Peony seed collection

The peony blooms from May to June, and the seeds grow inside the fruit. They mature in August and can be obtained after removing the peel and pulp. After picking, they must be immediately stored in alkaline sand to prevent the seeds from shrinking and can be kept in a low temperature place.
