Amaranth seeds can be kept for a long time. You can keep the seeds of Amaranth yourself by removing the seeds grown on the leaf spikes.

Saving Winter Amaranth Seeds

After collecting the winter amaranth seeds, they can be preserved and stored by drying and sealing. They can then be sown in the spring of the following year, and the survival rate is very high.

Planting Winter Amaranth Seeds

Winter Amaranth seeds can be harvested in winter or planted in winter. They can be sown in rows or broadcast. The land should be prepared in advance. For row sowing, dig furrows with a row spacing of 35-40 cm. After sowing, cover with 3 cm of soil, compact it and water it. In the spring when it is dry, watering is needed in time so that the seeds can germinate.

The winter amaranth seedlings will emerge from the soil after more than 10 days. Do not water excessively at this time, otherwise it will cause excessive growth. If the seedlings in the seedbed are sown too densely, thinning can be done to improve ventilation and light conditions. The seedlings can be transplanted when they are 10 to 15 cm tall, with a row spacing of 30 to 35 cm and a plant spacing of 20 to 30 cm. After planting the seedlings, compact the soil and irrigate with water. The seedlings will survive after 3 to 4 days.
