The growing environment and local conditions of Cornus officinalis

Cornus officinalis growth environment and conditions

Cornus officinalis prefers plenty of sunlight, but is also relatively shade-tolerant. It generally grows better in the middle and lower parts of hillsides, shady slopes, sunny slopes, valleys and on both sides of rivers. It is distributed in areas with an altitude of 400-1800 meters. The best growing area is 600-1300 meters. It is produced in Shanxi, Shaanxi, Gansu, Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Henan, Hunan and other provinces in China.

Dogwood Growing Conditions

Cornus officinalis prefers a warm and humid environment and is suitable for planting in well-drained, organic-rich and fertile sandy loam. If planted in clay, it is necessary to add an appropriate amount of river sand to increase the soil's air permeability and drainage.

Dogwood Growth Temperature

Cornus officinalis needs to be provided with suitable temperature for growth. The best growth temperature is between 20-30 degrees. It will grow poorly when the temperature exceeds 35 degrees. It has strong cold resistance and can withstand short-term low temperatures of minus 18 degrees.

The growth process of dogwood

Cornus officinalis grows and develops from seeds. Under suitable conditions, cells divide, the embryo develops into plumules and radicles, and the seedlings emerge from the soil, forming stems, branches, leaves and roots, forming plants, and then continuously absorbing nutrients and water, growing stronger. At a certain age, it turns to the reproductive growth stage, blooms, bears fruit, matures, ages, and dies.

When and how to plant Cornus officinalis

Cornus officinalis is suitable for planting in spring. The soil should be loose and fertile with good drainage. Trim the soil in advance and apply sufficient well-rotted base fertilizer. Mix it evenly with the soil and apply it. Keep the soil moist after planting and maintain it in a warm and sunny place. It will soon sprout and take root.
