Bamboo Growth Environment and ConditionsMoso bamboo is native to China and is widely distributed in the southern region, where 85% of the world's bamboo grows. It generally grows in areas of 400 to 800 meters and is commonly found in hills and low mountain foothills. It is planted from the Qinling Mountains and the Han River Basin to the Yangtze River Basin, and is also distributed in the Yellow River Basin. Bamboo Growth ConditionsMoso bamboo prefers a humid environment and grows best in areas with an annual rainfall of 1200 to 1800 mm. It has high requirements for the soil and needs moisture but cannot tolerate waterlogging. It is suitable for growing in acidic sandy loam with deep, fertile soil, good drainage and air permeability. It can also grow on red soil, yellow-red soil and yellow soil. Bamboo growth temperatureThe bamboo culms of Moso bamboo grow fast and in large quantities, so warm and humid climatic conditions are required, and the annual average temperature needs to be between 15 and 20 degrees. The growth process of bambooThe roots of moso bamboo grow rapidly and become bamboo shoots. Before the bamboo breaks through the soil, it grows in the form of bamboo shoots. After a period of time, in spring, the bamboo shoots will emerge from the soil, and the shells will slowly fall off. Bamboo branches will emerge in the middle. In just a few months, they can grow to a height of more than ten meters. After they bloom and bear fruit, the leaves of the bamboo stalks fall off and no new leaves will grow. Bamboo planting time and methodThe best time to plant bamboo is from December to late February. Before planting, you must choose suitable soil. It is best to use deep, fertile, moist, well-drained loam as the nursery ground. Prepare the land in advance and water it thoroughly to keep it moist. Soak the seeds in potassium permanganate for 2-4 hours for disinfection, then carry out row sowing, broadcast sowing or hole sowing. The row spacing for hole sowing is about 30 cm. Sow 8-10 seeds evenly in each hole and cover them with a thin layer of soil until the seeds are invisible. When sowing in rows, the row spacing is about 30 cm. Use about 2 kg of seeds per mu. After sowing, pay attention to damage by rats, birds, insects and earthworms. |
