Ginkgo Tree Growth Environment and Conditions

Ginkgo is a specialty of China, distributed in natural forests at an altitude of 500-1000 meters, with a pH value of 5-5.5 and yellow soil and good drainage. It is widely distributed in China, and is planted in Shenyang, Guangzhou, Guizhou, western Yunnan, and Jiangsu. It is also cultivated in North Korea, Japan, Europe, and the United States.

Ginkgo Tree Growing Conditions

Ginkgo trees prefer an environment with plenty of sunlight and have a wide adaptability to the environment. They can grow in areas with high temperature and high rainfall, as well as areas with little rainfall and cold winters, but they do not grow well. They are suitable for planting in areas with deep soil, fertile and moist soil, and good drainage.

Ginkgo tree growth temperature

The annual average temperature for the normal growth of ginkgo trees is between 8-20 degrees. If the weather is too hot, it is not conducive to the growth of ginkgo trees, and the ginkgo trees will be underdeveloped. In areas where the weather is too cold, ginkgo trees will not survive.

The growth process of the ginkgo tree

1. Sowing and seedling raising: Ginkgo fruit should be harvested in time after it matures, the seeds should be peeled and dried in the shade. It can be sown in autumn in the south and in spring in the north. Choose seeds with larger particles, and the seedbed should be made of sandy loam with good permeability.

2. Cutting seedling cultivation: From May to June, cut the soft branches of the ginkgo tree of the current year, with a length of 10-15 cm, cut off the lower leaves, insert half of them into the soil, spray water frequently to ensure that the leaves are not dry, and they will take root in about 45-60 days.

Ginkgo tree planting time and method

1. Spring and autumn are both good planting times. Autumn planting is done from October to November, so the root system has a long time to recover. From this point of view, it is best to choose autumn planting.

2. When planting ginkgo, choose a substrate with a deep soil layer and good drainage ability. Sandy loam is the best. Choose mother trees that are about 80 years old. Select large and full seeds for germination. Place them horizontally in the ditch, cover them with 3 to 4 cm thick soil and compact them.
