How long is the growing season for corn?

The growing cycle of corn is about 100 days, but this time is not fixed. It will change according to the local climate and corn variety. For example, the growth cycle of early-maturing varieties is 80-100 days, mid-maturing varieties is 100-120 days, and late-maturing varieties is 120-150 days.

The growth of corn goes through three stages: seedling stage, ear stage, and flower and grain stage. The plants are sown around April 20 and can be harvested in October.

Corn growth process

1. Seedling stage: After the corn seeds are buried in the soil, seedlings will grow out in about 6 days, and then they will begin to joint and differentiate into roots, leaves, and stems.

2. Heading stage: The heading stage refers to the period from jointing to heading. The nutritional growth during this period is relatively vigorous, and the plants need to be fertilized in time to promote the enlargement of leaves and make the plants have larger and more ears.

3. Flowering and grain stage: During this period, the leaves of corn are fully unfolded and reproductive growth begins to appear. The plants must be protected from damage.

Corn growth period maintenance and management

1. During the corn seedling stage, measures such as field inspection, seedling replacement, thinning, and weeding should be carried out. The main purpose is to make the seedlings strong and uniform.

2. Corn needs to be topdressed during the jointing stage. At this stage, the plant has a higher demand for nutrients and water. About 70 kilograms of urea should be applied per acre.

3. During the corn flowering and grain stage, the main measures to be taken include drainage, emasculation and pollination, and removal of empty stalks.
