What fertilizer to use for cabbage

When fertilizing cabbage, organic fertilizer is used mainly. After harvesting before mid-to-late July, deep plowing of the soil should be done. When preparing the land, 100-150 kg of lime should be spread per mu, and a good mix of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium should be used.

1. Applying an appropriate amount of quick-acting fertilizer after thinning the cabbage seedlings can ensure that the seedlings have sufficient nutrients during the growth process. Applying fertilizer and watering when entering the rosette stage can provide favorable conditions for the growth of cabbage after the rosette stage.

2. Apply potassium fertilizer after the cabbage enters the heading stage. At this time, the amount of fertilizer required increases. Sufficient fertilizer can enrich the inside of the leaf head, making the grown cabbage more solid, thereby improving the variety and yield of the cabbage.

How to fertilize cabbage

Chinese cabbage should be fertilized evenly with comprehensive nutrients. Even after it starts to form a heart, do not add too much nitrogen and potassium fertilizers. In addition, attention should be paid to the addition of organic fertilizers. Human feces and urine can also be added during the rosette stage and the heart forming stage.

Spring fertilization

Chinese cabbage needs to be fertilized in March in spring. It requires a large amount of fertilizer, and its root system is shallow and has poor absorption capacity. In addition to applying sufficient base fertilizer, top dressing should be applied early, and quick-acting fertilizer should be used mainly.

Summer fertilization

In summer from June to July, cabbage fertilizer should be mainly nitrogen fertilizer. It is appropriate to apply about 20-30 pounds of urea per mu. When applying fertilizer, pay attention to the amount and concentration to avoid causing the plant to grow too tall and affect the later heart-forming time and quality.

Fall Fertilization

In October of autumn, topdressing should be done with compound fertilizer containing balanced nutrients, 40 kilograms per mu is appropriate. It should be repeated after one week, and the amount should be increased.

Winter fertilization

Top dressing is needed between November and December in winter. Pay attention to the amount and concentration when applying top dressing to avoid causing the plants to grow too tall and affecting the time and quality of heart formation in the later stage.

Points to note when fertilizing cabbage

1. If the cabbage does not have enough potassium, the edges of the leaves will turn yellow and dry, and in severe cases the problem will spread to the heart of the cabbage. Therefore, potassium must be applied regardless of whether you are applying base fertilizer or top dressing.

2. During the vegetative growth stage of Chinese cabbage, it needs sufficient sunlight. After fertilizing, it needs appropriate sunlight exposure to promote the plant's roots to quickly absorb nutrients.
