How to remedy yellow leaves of asparagus fern

How to remedy yellow leaves of asparagus fern

1. Temperature increase and temperature control

Asparagus fern prefers a warm environment and has poor cold resistance. If the temperature cannot be controlled well after winter and the asparagus fern is in a low temperature environment for a long time, it will easily be frostbitten, causing the leaves to turn yellow or even dry up. If you are frostbitten due to low temperature, you must take warming measures as soon as possible. If you want to move asparagus fern to a room with heating, the temperature must be controlled above 10℃ to avoid further freezing. It may slowly resume growth after the temperature rises in spring.

2. Watering in moderation

Asparagus fern likes a humid environment, has a slight drought tolerance, and is afraid of waterlogging. Overwatering or prolonged lack of water can easily lead to root rot. If too much watering hinders the root breathing, the accumulated water in the soil should be drained as soon as possible, and ventilation should be strengthened to evaporate the water. If necessary, the plants should be removed and replanted in new soil. If the plant is suffering from yellowing due to lack of water, water it as soon as possible, preferably thoroughly. Spray water around it frequently to increase the humidity.

3. Shade and sun protection

The yellowing of asparagus fern leaves may also be due to light. It is shade-tolerant but not sun-tolerant. If it is exposed to strong light for a long time, it will easily be sunburned, resulting in yellow leaves or even drying up. If this is the cause, cut off the yellow and dry leaves as soon as possible, and move it to a cool, well-ventilated environment for maintenance. Spray water all around regularly, and it will slowly resume growth.

4. Reasonable topdressing

The yellowing of asparagus fern leaves may also be caused by improper fertilization. If concentrated fertilizer or raw fertilizer is applied to it, fertilizer damage will easily occur, leading to yellow leaves. If this is the case, you should water the fertilizer with clean water as soon as possible and drain the fertilizer liquid. If the fertilizer damage is more serious, it is best to change the pot so that the plant can resume growth quickly.
