What fertilizer is good for cactus

Cactus fertilization requirements

Cactus is tolerant to poor soil and should be fertilized once every half a month in spring and autumn. It is advisable to use decomposed organic fertilizer to provide more comprehensive nutrients. The soil in the pot should be kept dry before fertilizing. Water it once the next day after fertilizing to allow it to be absorbed.

The concentration of cactus fertilizer must be controlled. If it is liquid fertilizer, it must be fully diluted. The amount of granular fertilizer must be controlled and do not use too much at one time to avoid burning the roots.

What fertilizer to use for cactus

1. Cake fertilizer: Cacti can use cake fertilizer. It needs to be crushed and soaked in water to make it fully decompose, then made into cake fertilizer and watered. Chicken manure fertilizer also needs to be soaked in water to decompose, and then the clear liquid should be taken for watering. Compound fertilizer should be diluted before use, and the fertilizer is quick and easy to absorb.

2. Manure fertilizer: Cactus can use manure fertilizer. Put it in water and only take the clear liquid on top. You can also use cow dung and mix it into the soil. It can not only supplement nutrients but also make the soil loose.

How to fertilize cactus

Cactus is relatively easy to grow, and the frequency of fertilization is relatively simple. You can replenish fertilizer for it 1-2 times a month, and there is no need to fertilize it frequently.

Spring fertilization

Spring is the vigorous growth season for cactus, and the growth rate at this time is greater than in other seasons, so it is necessary to fertilize once every 15 days in spring, and 4 to 5 times is enough.

Summer fertilization

Cactus grows slowly in summer, so during this period you need to take appropriate shading measures and give the cactus sufficient water. There is no need to fertilize it.

Fall Fertilization

In autumn, cactus also enters its growth period. If you need to change the soil or pot, it is recommended to do it during this period. Apart from that, the management in autumn is similar to that in spring. The only difference is in fertilization. When the temperature drops in autumn, you need to stop fertilizing.

Winter fertilization

The winter is extremely cold, and the cactus has poor cold resistance. If you are not careful, the plant will be frostbitten. In winter, you need to reduce watering and stop fertilizing, and keep the soil dry in winter.

Points to note when fertilizing cactus

1. You need to stop fertilizing the cactus by early October, otherwise it will easily get frostbite in winter. Be careful when fertilizing so as not to let the fertilizer splash onto the plant.

2. When planting cacti, do not apply fertilizer blindly. You must follow its fertilizer requirements to avoid fertilizer damage. Improper fertilization can lead to root rot. The fertilizer concentration should not be too high, and the amount of fertilizer should be controlled reasonably.

3. Cactus likes an environment with sufficient sunlight, so that its color will be very green and beautiful, and it will grow very healthily, so when fertilizing it, you need to give it plenty of sunlight.
