How to propagate jade tree by cuttings

How to propagate jade tree by cuttings

1. Leaf cuttings

The leaf cutting method is very simple and has a higher chance of survival. Generally speaking, we need to choose the medium first. You can consider using sand and peat. It would be even better if you can add some stones. If you can't find these things, you can take some soil from the spot.

There are two specific methods of leaf cuttings. One is to cut off the leaves first, then dry them, and then insert them into the sand bed. It will grow roots in about four weeks. The next operation is to pot them, which is usually started after the roots grow two or three centimeters. Another method is to place it directly on the medium, and it will grow roots soon. The latter method is similar to the cuttings of succulents.

2. Branch cuttings

The survival rate of using branches is particularly high, even higher than that of leaf cuttings. In the words of others, there are no cases of failure. The same method as leaf cuttings is to prepare the soil first, and then cut off the more fertile top branches, with the length controlled at about 8 to 10 cm. Then dry it in the sun, and when it is a little dry, stick it into the sand bed. Generally, it will start to grow roots in three weeks.

After it grows normally, we need to water it moderately and place it in a dry and windy place. It will grow better in such an environment. What we should pay attention to is not to do cuttings in winter, because this is its dormant period and the effect will not be good at this time. It can be done in the other three seasons. After cuttings, it is easy to grow roots and grow lush and full.
