What are the cultivation methods and precautions of dragon beard wood

Introduction of Dragon's Beard Wood

The dragon's beard wood, also known as mountain kelp and dragon's beard iron, is a plant of the genus Dragon's beard wood in the phylum Angiosperms, class Monocots, family Agavaceae, and genus Dragon's beard wood. There are generally two methods of its reproduction, namely high pressure and cuttings.

How to cultivate dragon beard wood

The dragon beard tree likes a high temperature and humid environment. It has high requirements for light and prefers an environment with plenty of sunlight. It needs to be maintained in a place with sufficient scattered light to make the leaves dark green. Its cold resistance is weak, so you need to pay attention to keeping warm in winter. It has a strong ability to withstand high temperatures. The suitable growth temperature is between 20-25 degrees and cannot be lower than 5 degrees.

When planting dragon beard wood, you should choose relatively soft and fertile sandy loam. It likes moisture and is afraid of waterlogging. The air humidity should be maintained at 70-80%. The soil should be slightly moist, but there should be no accumulation of water. During the growing season, it is also necessary to fertilize it once every half a month.

Watering method

The dragon beard tree has a strong drought resistance. In order to prevent rot, you must not water it too much. You can water it once every 10 days or so, as long as the soil remains slightly moist.

Fertilization method

During the growing period of the dragon beard wood, it is necessary to apply decomposed thin liquid fertilizer or high potassium nitrate fertilizer once every half month. When the temperature is below 13℃ in winter, fertilization can be stopped.

Pruning methods

The dragon beard wood needs to be pruned in time during its growth period. The leaves on the lower part of the main stem can be cut off, and then the main stem can be made into a T shape. The plants that have lost their leaves for many years can be cut short, and 2 to 3 side buds can be selected in appropriate positions for cultivation. It is important to maintain sufficient sunlight after pruning and control watering.

Precautions for cultivating dragon beard wood

1. Repotting: Be careful when changing the pot of the dragon beard tree so as not to damage its root system, especially the main root. Choose fertile, well-ventilated sandy soil when repotting. Do not water it immediately after repotting. Keep it in a well-ventilated and cool place. Wait for 3-5 days to stabilize before watering it normally.

2. Repotting time: Generally, the dragon beard wood needs to be repotted after 2-3 years of cultivation. The best time to repot is April. When repotting, choose a suitable pot according to its size.
