Hydroponic aloe vera, spider plant, red palm, green radish...if you don't pay attention to these points, they will die

Hydroponic aloe vera, spider plant, red palm, green radish...if you don't pay attention to these points, they will die

1. Aloe Vera

Because aloe vera plants have thick, fleshy leaves and are heavy, special consideration should be given to the choice of container. The mouth of the bottle should match the size of the plant, or a planting basket should be added to secure it.

When you repot or change the pot, wash the roots with the lateral buds and then keep them in clean water. New roots will sprout in about 20 days.

During the maintenance process, it is necessary to keep the plant in the shade and well ventilated (that is, do not keep it in the sun), pay attention to changing the water, and it is best to shade the bottle from light, as darkness will help rooting.

2. Chlorophytum

For water-grown spider plants, only one-third of their roots need to touch the water surface. Do not immerse all of the fleshy roots of the spider plant in water, otherwise water accumulation will easily cause root rot.

Change the water once a day for the spider plant that has just been placed in water, and reduce the frequency of water changes after it has taken root. If there are residual plant fragments or residual matrix, nutrient solution precipitation, etc. in the water, causing the water quality to deteriorate, root rot is likely to occur.

The roots of spider plants are very sensitive, so when changing the water, make sure it is consistent with the room temperature to avoid overcooling or overheating.

Check the growth of the roots frequently and cut off rotten roots in time. After the roots rot, just use clean water to nourish them. Wait for the roots to adapt to the environment and grow new roots before adding nutrient solution.

3. Anthurium

It is difficult to clean the matrix residue on the root hairs of anthurium in one go, so it should be removed slowly during the maintenance process.

The roots of Anthurium are generally not pruned. Depending on the situation after water cultivation, only the roots that are too long are appropriately shortened.

Anthurium prefers higher air humidity and semi-shady environment, and the leaves can be sprayed with water frequently.

When changing water, the culture medium temperature should not differ too much. It is not cold-resistant and needs to be heated to keep warm in winter.

4. Pothos

For the green radish grown in hydroponics, the cuttings must be healthy and free of pests and diseases, preferably with aerial roots. The stems inserted into the hydroponic container must not have leaves to avoid rotting, contaminating the water quality, and getting infected by pathogens.

For hydroponic green radish, you need to change the water frequently in the first few days, once every one or two days, and the water temperature should not be much different from the indoor temperature. After new roots grow, you can reduce the frequency of water changes to once a week.

It is very important to clean the roots of hydroponic green radish. If you only change the water without cleaning it, it will lead to the accumulation of bacteria at the roots and cause root rot. When cleaning the root system, promptly cut off roots that are too long, rotten, and decayed. Disinfect with potassium permanganate before resuming normal maintenance.

Pothos is not cold-resistant. You can achieve the effect of heat preservation by wrapping the container with foam plastic board or covering the hydroponic plants with plastic film.

5. Lucky Bamboo

After the cuttings are inserted into the bottle, change the water every 3 to 4 days. You can put in a few small pieces of charcoal for preservation. Do not move the position or change the direction within 10 days. The most suitable time for vase planting is April to September, because this period is the easiest time for roots to grow and survive.

You cannot use tap water directly to grow lucky bamboo in water. It is best to store it for one day before use to ensure the normal growth of lucky bamboo.

After rooting, add a small amount of culture solution or compound fertilizer in time to ensure that the branches are strong, but do not add too much, otherwise it will cause root burn. Just fertilize once a month.

Pour a few drops of brandy into the bottle every three weeks or so, or dissolve half a tablet of powdered aspirin or a tablet of vitamin C in 500 grams of water and then add a few drops when adding the water to keep the leaves green.

Do not place lucky bamboo next to a TV or in places where it is often blown by air conditioners or electric fans, so as to avoid the tips and edges of the leaves drying out and affecting the viewing effect.

6. Asparagus fern

Use a planting basket and use expanded clay to fix the asparagus fern.

The water level in the bottle should not be too high. Keep the water level in the bottle at one-third to half of the height of the bottle. If it is too high, it will easily cause the trunk of asparagus fern to rot.

Change the water every 7 to 10 days in summer and every 20 days in winter, and add nutrient solution each time you change the water. The nutrient solution should be six drops per liter.

7. Hyacinth

The mouth of the hydroponic cup should not be too large, it should be able to support the sphere. A professional hydroponic bottle is of course the best, but a hydroponic basket is also good.

Hyacinths are more susceptible to rot, so when growing hydroponically, the water should not exceed the bulb, and there must be a 5mm gap between the bulb and the water surface.

When hyacinths are first planted in pots, they need to be protected from light. That is, the bulbs and the vase should be placed in a dark place, away from sunlight. The transparent part of the bottle can be wrapped with plastic bags, newspapers, etc. It is recommended to block light for 15-20 days and keep the temperature at around 9-10 degrees. Change the water every 5 days, and change the water every 7 days after roots grow.

After the light-avoiding period, sufficient sunlight is needed to promote the growth of leaves. Otherwise, the plant will easily grow too tall, and in severe cases it will not bloom.

8. Narcissus

Change the water once a day, otherwise the unclean water will affect the growth of daffodils. In addition, there are a lot of nutrients in the daffodil bulbs, so the step of fertilizing can be omitted, and you can just change the water frequently.

Ripe fruits should not be placed next to daffodil plants, as gases such as ethylene released by various fruits will accelerate the withering of flowers and shorten the flowering period.

If the phenomenon of "dumb flowers" occurs, the reasons can be found in the water quality, sunlight, and the behavior of changing water. It is possible that the roots and peduncles of the daffodils were accidentally damaged when changing the water.

9. Coinweed

Add water in time and make sure the water in the pot does not dry up. Pennywort likes water and sunlight. Only with plenty of water and sunlight can it grow large leaves. It needs more than 4 hours of sunlight a day to grow lush and green.

There is no problem in feeding the whole plant by submerging it in water. If you add mud, sand and nutrient soil and compact it with stones, it can also sprout and produce flower spikes.

If you have goldfish at home, you can pour the water used to change the water for the goldfish into the basin of the pennywort, which will make the pennywort grow better.

The pennywort grows vigorously and can fill a basin of water in a month. It should be pruned and divided in a timely manner, and the overly dense pennywort should be transplanted to other basins to prevent the mature leaves from blocking the light of the tender leaves and affecting the normal growth and metabolism of the plant.

10. Lotus

Use refined bowls and pots for hydroponics, such as small colored jars. Even if you use a bowl, it must be a large bowl with a diameter of about 25cm and a depth of more than 20cm. Because if the container is too small, the growth of the bowl lotus will be restricted and it will be difficult to bloom well.

Apply about 1% of the base fertilizer of the potting soil in the container, and then add pond mud to 2/3 of the depth of the pot. Bowl lotus has little soil and insufficient nutrients, so it must be fertilized frequently with thin layers of fertilizer.

Add half a basin of garden soil or river pond mud into the pot, soak it in water two weeks in advance, and do not apply fertilizer. Press the thin roots of the seedlings into the mud and add water to a depth that does not cover the lotus leaves.

Place the seed lotus roots end to end and plant them in the pot with the top buds facing the center of the container. After planting, add water to 2-3cm, dry it and then add water. Repeat this two or three times to make the lotus root and soil fully compact and not easy to float. In summer, the water lily must be watered every day.

Whether it is potted or hydroponically grown, it is not easy to grow flowers. You need to treat them like your own children and take care of them carefully as they grow. When the day comes when the branches are lush and leaves are green and the fragrance of flowers fills the house, all the efforts of the flower owner will be worth it.
