How to plant gentian

How to plant gentian

Soil selection:

Choose moist sandy soil rich in organic matter.

Environment selection:

Gentian likes plenty of sunlight, so you can choose a place where it can get direct sunlight.

Preparation before planting:

There should be sufficient base fertilizer, then the soil surface should be leveled and ridges should be made to plant gentian.

Post-planting care:

After the seeds sprout, the unhealthy and smaller seedlings can be removed, leaving the stronger ones for cultivation.

Weeding should be carried out regularly during the seedling period. You can pull them out directly to prevent the weeds from absorbing nutrients from the soil and causing nutrient deficiency in the seedlings. You must not wait until the grass grows up before weeding, as this can easily damage the roots of the gentian.

If the soil shows signs of crusting or caking, it is necessary to loosen the soil in time. Be careful when loosening the soil; do not do it too deeply, otherwise the seedlings may be easily injured and the seedlings may be pulled out of the soil. Transplanting and planting can also be carried out when loosening the soil. After transplanting, loosen the soil 2 to 3 times.

After transplanting, top dressing should be carried out. You can use the spraying method to spray fertilizer on the surface of the leaves. Top dressing should be carried out when buds appear and when the flowers bloom and bear fruit. The soil can be fertilized once every 3 to 4 years, and the soil should be leveled after fertilization.

Flower thinning and bud picking

For fruit-bearing plants, if the number of flowers is far greater than the number of fruits, the flowers should be picked and pruned in time to avoid consuming unnecessary nutrients. If the fruits are not picked and pruned in time, they will fall off before they are fully formed. Remove.
