How to grow potted carnations

Carnation belongs to the Caryophyllaceae family. It is generally planted by cutting propagation, sowing propagation, and tissue culture propagation. It prefers a warm growing climate. When caring for it, the temperature needs to be kept between 15-28 degrees. The temperature cannot be lower than 10 degrees, otherwise it will cause its growth to stagnate.

Watering method

Carnations need to be watered once after planting, and they need to be watered thoroughly. Normally, you need to wait until the soil is dry before watering. Except during the flowering period and hot weather, they need to be watered in moderation to avoid water accumulation.

Fertilization method

After planting carnations, they need to be fertilized once every half a month. If the soil fertility is not enough, the fertilization time can be shortened appropriately. During the growth period, the amount of fertilizer needs to be increased appropriately.

Pruning methods

When carnations are in the seedling stage, they need to be pinched and the growth points and leaves at the top need to be cut off. This can promote the growth of side branches. After flowering, some residual flowers and dead branches need to be cut off.

Precautions for growing potted carnations

When caring for carnations, you need to pay attention to keeping the soil moist during the peak growth period so that it can grow well. In the high temperatures of summer, you need to reduce watering appropriately and provide a good ventilation environment.
