Shrimp Farming Tips

Shrimp Farming Tips

Many friends think that fruit and vegetable planting are too common and not very profitable, so they want to join the aquaculture industry, and shrimp is a project that many people choose. If you want to raise shrimp well, you must master shrimp farming techniques.

1. Ensure high-quality water

As the old saying goes: "You must first take care of the water before raising shrimps." To raise shrimp well, you must provide them with a suitable breeding environment, including water quality, water temperature, water depth and bottom quality. Aquaculture water needs to be filtered, precipitated and treated to keep the water fresh and stable. The water temperature should be controlled at 25~32℃ to avoid too high or too low water temperature affecting the growth and reproduction of shrimp.

2. Select high-quality shrimp seedlings

Choose healthy, disease-free, and vigorous shrimp fry, and avoid choosing shrimp fry with diseases or weak vitality. At the same time, the breeding density should be adjusted reasonably according to the size and growth rate of the shrimp fry.

3. Provide nutritious feed

Feed costs account for a relatively high proportion in the shrimp farming process, so it is necessary to select high-quality, nutritionally balanced raw materials to improve palatability and digestibility and meet the nutritional needs of shrimp. At the same time, pay attention to protein utilization. Low digestibility feeds result in increased excreta containing proteins and minerals, which contain potentially harmful nitrogen that can pollute the water and harm the shrimp.

4. Adjust the salinity of aquaculture water

Pure freshwater aquaculture requires treatment of pond water salinity. There are several methods: Increase the salinity of the pure freshwater pond (add seawater essence, generally 4 to 5 kg/cubic meter) to a salinity of 5%. If seawater essence is not added, it is also necessary to add seawater element (the nutrient component of seawater after desalination is seawater element) to improve the survival rate of aquaculture; use high-concentration brine to mix with groundwater, well water, rice field water, etc., and adjust to the required salinity; after thorough disinfection with seawater, gradually add fresh water (fewer viruses survive in fresh water).

5. Feed selection and feeding

Choose feed with complete nutrition and reliable quality for feeding. According to the growth stage and health status of the shrimp, the amount of feed fed should be reasonably controlled to avoid waste caused by overfeeding and excessive growth of shrimp. Shrimp feed at night, so it is best to feed them in the evening or at night. Feed 3 to 4 times a day to keep the feed fresh and tasty.

6. Daily management

Daily management is crucial in shrimp farming. Inspect the pond regularly to observe the growth of shrimp and changes in water quality. Establish a breeding log to record various data during the breeding process so that problems can be discovered and resolved in a timely manner. Determine the stocking density according to the pond size and water quality conditions to avoid overcrowding which may lead to water quality deterioration and hindered shrimp growth.

In addition, shrimp farmers should also pay attention to disease prevention and treatment, and pay attention to the use and dosage of drugs during the prevention and treatment process.
