How to care for Kalanchoe during its flowering period

How to care for Kalanchoe during its flowering period

1. Reduce sunlight

During the flowering period, you should reduce the light exposure because sunlight will accelerate its photosynthesis and metabolism, thus shortening the flowering period. But since it cannot live without sunlight, you can let it bask in the sun for a while in the morning or evening, when the sunlight is relatively weak. After its flowers fade, you should let it get more sunlight, which can speed up its photosynthesis and increase the time for the next flowering.

2. Ventilation

If it is often kept in an unventilated environment, not only will its growth rate slow down, but it will also be infected by bacteria. Therefore, in winter, you should open the windows at noon to ventilate the house and help the air circulate in the house.

3. Pruning

During the flowering period, if there are broken branches and leaves, they must be cut off in time, otherwise these broken branches and leaves will consume some of its nutrients, causing the flowers to slowly wither.

4. Add Fertilizer

After its flowers bloom, it needs to be fertilized, usually with compound fertilizer, which can replenish the nutrients consumed during the flowering period. Then you can give it compound liquid fertilizer once every fifteen to twenty days, with a low concentration. After the flower buds grow up, apply potassium dihydrogen phosphate or superphosphate once or twice. This will allow it to grow more flowers, with brighter colors, and last longer.

5. Maintain temperature

The temperature suitable for its growth is between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius. It is best not to let the temperature fall below ten degrees, otherwise there will be problems with the leaves, such as redness, and the flowering time will be delayed.
