Cabbage is native to North China and is widely cultivated around the world. The plant prefers a cool climate and is not suitable for cultivation in high temperature seasons, otherwise the plant is prone to diseases and pests, or the yield is reduced.

Cabbage growth temperature

Cabbage prefers medium to low temperatures, and the temperature requirements are different at different stages. For example, the optimal temperature for seed germination is 23°C, while the optimal growth temperature during the rosette period is 17-22°C.

Cabbage growth humidity

Cabbage likes a humid growing environment, and the relative humidity of the air should be around 60-80%. However, water must not be allowed to accumulate in the soil, especially after rain, the accumulated water must be drained in time.

Cabbage growing soil

Cabbage prefers deep, fertile, water-retaining and fertilizer-retaining loam, sandy loam and black loam. It is not suitable for sandy soil and clay. The best soil pH value is between 6.5 and 7.0.

Cabbage growth cycle and process

The growth cycle of cabbage is about 55 days, and its growth rate is relatively fast. Its growth goes through stages such as germination, seedling stage, bolting and bud formation stage, flowering and fruiting stage. It can be sown by direct seeding or by seedling transplanting.
