How to grow chrysanthemums to make them overflow (cultivation methods and precautions for chrysanthemums)

Medal chrysanthemum is also known as medal flower. Its flowers look like medals and are very beautiful. Medal chrysanthemum is a plant of the Asteraceae family. It inherits some characteristics of Asteraceae plants. It likes sunlight, is drought-resistant, and can bloom in all seasons. It is a good ornamental flower.

But there is one disadvantage of the medallion chrysanthemum: it is not cold-resistant and the wintering temperature cannot be lower than 5 degrees. It will be more troublesome in the northern areas without heating in winter. So, how to grow the medallion chrysanthemum to make it overflow the pot?

Chrysanthemums need plenty of sunlight to grow

Like other Asteraceae plants, Medal of Honor requires plenty of sunlight.

In an environment with sufficient light, the medallion can grow very well and can bloom all year round. Insufficient light will cause the leaves to turn yellow, the branches and leaves to grow too long, the flowers to be sparse, or even no flowers to bloom.

It is very suitable for maintenance on a sunny south balcony or terrace. For indoor maintenance, try to place it in a place with good light.

Chrysanthemum is not cold-resistant, so keep warm in winter

The suitable growth temperature for medallion chrysanthemum is between 15-20 degrees. It also has a certain tolerance to high temperatures above 30 degrees in summer. It can be exposed to direct sunlight in summer without shade.

However, the medal chrysanthemum is not cold-resistant. The wintering temperature must be above 10 degrees and the lowest cannot be lower than 5 degrees. It must be brought indoors in time to keep warm in winter when the temperature drops.

Chrysanthemum is drought-tolerant and afraid of waterlogging, so it is not advisable to water it too much.

Chrysanthemum has a certain degree of drought resistance and will not die of drought if not watered for a few days, but we grow flowers at home not to test its drought resistance.

Normally, just water to keep the soil moist. During the rainy season in summer, pay attention to timely drainage. High temperature and humid weather can easily cause waterlogging and root rot.

Fertilize Chrysanthemum, apply thin fertilizer frequently

Since the medal chrysanthemum blooms all year round, it has a relatively large demand for fertilizer, so it is better to apply small amounts of fertilizer frequently.

During the growing season, thin fertilizer is usually applied once every 10-15 days. Decomposed cake fertilizer water or compound fertilizer can be used. Since it is a flowering plant, it has a greater demand for phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, so it is appropriate to use high-phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizers.
