Iris growth environment conditions and requirements

Iris is a perennial herb with great ornamental value. It is mostly planted in southern China. Generally, iris prefers to grow in warm, humid, cool and well-lit places. It can also maintain growth in semi-shaded environment.

Iris growth temperature

Iris likes a warm environment. The most suitable growth temperature for iris is around 13-18 degrees. The highest temperature of the environment should not exceed 25 degrees, and the lowest temperature can be around 6 degrees. Iris has a certain degree of cold resistance and can generally withstand temperatures as low as around minus 3 degrees.

Iris growth humidity

Iris likes a humid environment and needs to be watered according to seasonal changes and soil moisture during maintenance. Generally, in spring and autumn, it only needs to be watered once every 5 days, in summer, it needs to be watered once every 3 days, and during winter dormancy, it only needs to be watered once every half a month.

Iris growing soil

Iris prefers sticky soil when planting. It is generally suitable to be planted in moderately moist, fertile, well-drained, humus-rich, and relatively moisturizing alkaline soil. Vermiculite and peat can also be added to the soil during planting.

Iris growth cycle and process

There are many varieties of irises. Generally, the growth cycles of different varieties are different. In most cases, the cycle of irises is about 50-60 days. Iris usually blooms from April to June, and the flowering period usually lasts about 3 months.
