The best time for Kalanchoe cuttings

The best time for Kalanchoe cuttings

1. Time for cuttings

There is great flexibility in propagating Kalanchoe by cuttings, and there are not too many restrictions. It can be done in all four seasons. However, cuttings are generally easiest to survive in summer and autumn when climate and other factors are more suitable. A suitable growing climate will also make it take root faster and survive more easily.

2. Cutting method

1. Terminal bud cuttings: Cut off the terminal buds that appear to be growing healthier. A few leaves need to be left on the terminal buds, and make sure there are no damaged areas. Then place it in a place where there is no strong light, let the cut wound dry, insert it into nutrient soil, and water it with enough water.

2. Leaf cuttings: Select healthy and plump leaves, cut them off, and then place them in a dark place to dry for about half an hour. Slowly insert them into the prepared sandy soil, but do not insert them too deep. Note that the leaves contain moisture, so the sandy soil can be kept semi-wet. Do not water too much, causing the sandy soil to be too wet. Then place it in a place with soft sunlight and wait for about a month for it to take root.

3. Branch cuttings: Cut branches that have bloomed, cut off the flowers, and then insert them into the prepared substrate and water them thoroughly. This method has the highest survival rate.
