How to deal with lilies after they bloom

How to deal with lilies after they bloom

1. Pruning

After the lilies have finished blooming, first remove the remaining flowers, and then trim the branches with sharp scissors, which can effectively reduce nutrient consumption. When pruning flower branches, be careful not to cut directly to the bottom. You can leave a certain length and a few leaves on it.

2. Reduce watering

After the flowers bloom, it is like entering a dormant period, and you need to reduce watering the plant and can no longer maintain the previous watering frequency. If you water too much, water will accumulate in the pot and the roots will rot. The frequency of watering can be controlled to once every three to five days, and the amount of water should not be too much each time.

3. Normal fertilization

Even after the flowers have faded, you still need to keep up with the nutrients. You can maintain the previous fertilization frequency and apply fertilizer normally.

4. Remove dead branches

After a period of time, the remaining part of the flower branch will wither. At this time, you only need to remove the flower branch. In winter, do not move the flower ball or dig it out.

5. Replanting

In the spring of next year, you can replant it. At this time, you can dig out the flower ball, plant it in a new flowerpot, fill it with new soil, water it, and expose it to the sun appropriately, and it will soon sprout again.
