How to propagate Elsholtzia

How to propagate Elsholtzia

1. Seed propagation:

1. First of all, you must ensure that the mother plant of the collected seeds is in good growth condition and is free of diseases and insects. Then store it and use it as seeds next year. Now that we have the seeds, the next step is to sow them. There are two sowing times for Osmanthus fragrans in a year - spring sowing in early to mid-April, and summer sowing in late May to early June.

2. The sowing method can be row sowing or broadcast sowing.

3. When sowing, sprinkle the seeds into fine soil and cover them with a thin layer of fine soil, and press lightly to ensure the germination rate and uniformity of the seeds.

4. Then cover it with film or straw mat to store moisture. After the seedlings emerge, you can remove the film or straw mat.

5. Finally, when the seedlings grow to 15cm, they can be transplanted. Subplanting refers to the distance between plants. Generally, the spacing between rows and plants of Osmanthus fragrans is 30cm*30cm. If the Osmanthus fragrans grows normally after division, then the seed propagation is completed.

2. Cutting propagation:

1. In early June, take branches that are well-growing, relatively thick, free of disease and pests, and cut them into branches about 12 to 15 cm long. Each branch should have 2 to 4 full buds that have grown. The cut of the cuttings should be flat on the top and slanted on the bottom. Remove less than half of the leaves of the cuttings, and pay attention to keeping the smoothness of the cut at the bottom.

2. The cut cuttings are separated into two thicknesses of 0.3cm and 0.6cm, and then divided into 4 bundles respectively. The cuttings in each bundle should be uniform in size and length, and the bottom ends should be aligned. They should be tied up in the normal way and put into the medicine quickly without delay, because excessive evaporation of water is needed to ensure the healthy growth of the cuttings. It should be noted that the test agents are rooting powder, etc., and they are compared with clean water, and the cutting depth is generally about 1/3 of the cuttings.

3. Finally, pay attention to the performance of Costusroot.

Having said so much, now everyone has a general idea of how to propagate Osmanthus fragrans!
