Is the soil in the pot as hard as rock? Add some loosening agent and the flowers will grow wildly immediately!

Is the soil in the pot as hard as rock? Add some loosening agent and the flowers will grow wildly immediately!

Symptoms of soil compaction in pots

If cracks appear on the surface of your flower pots, the soil is particularly hard and you cannot poke it with your hands, and it cannot absorb water when you water it, then the soil is basically compacted.

When the soil becomes compacted, it may cause the flowers to wilt, their leaves to turn yellow, or they may fall off. Severe soil compaction will hinder the breathing of the roots, leading to root rot, and eventually the death of the entire plant!

Insert a toothpick into the soil in the pot and the soil compaction problem will be solved immediately!

For some flower lovers in the northern part of the country, the temperature is now around 5℃, which is no longer suitable for repotting. In this case, you have to use a few small methods to solve the problem!

1. Insert a tube into the basin

When the soil becomes compacted, you can use chopsticks or a small wooden stick to poke a few holes in the soil, then insert a straw into it, and slowly pour coarse sand or fine coal slag into the straw. In this way, when you water, the soil will gradually become loose! But be careful not to poke the roots with the straw.

2. Sprinkle some earthworm manure and sheep dung eggs on the surface of the basin

The soil has basically no fertility after being compacted. At this time, you can sprinkle a few sheep dung balls or earthworm castings on the surface of the pot. This way, when watering, the nutrients can penetrate into the soil along with the water, which can also improve soil compaction.

3. Knock on the flower pot

If you have plastic flower pots at home, you can choose to knock them a few times to loosen the soil. Hold the flowerpot with one hand and pat the outer wall of the flowerpot with the other hand to loosen the soil in the flowerpot. At the same time, use a small shovel to loosen the soil to improve the compaction phenomenon.

Change the pot for the flower and the compaction problem will be solved immediately!

Of course, the best way to solve soil compaction is to replace the soil!

1. After the soil becomes compacted, hold the flowerpot with one hand and the roots of the plant with the other hand, and turn the entire pot of soil upside down.

2. Clean up the compacted soil and prepare loose and breathable soil. You can mix garden soil with some perlite, vermiculite or pine needles to make a loose and breathable nutrient soil.

3. Put the plant directly into the pot, water it thoroughly once, place it in a cool and ventilated place for a few days, and then carry out normal maintenance!

Add some of it to the soil and it will no longer become compacted!

When repotting flowers, you need to add something to the soil to ensure it is loose and breathable.

1. Add some pine needles

Pine needles are loose and breathable, making them very suitable for placing at the bottom of a pot. You can usually go under the pine tree, dig up the surface layer, and directly dig out the blackened pine needles underneath. Take them home and soak them in a carbendazim solution and you can use them!

2. Add some coal slag

If you meet a flower lover who burns honeycomb coal, you can ask for some of the burnt coal slag, take it home and smash it into thumb-sized pieces. Soak them in clean water for a few days, take them out and dry them, then you can mix them directly with the soil and use it. The loose and breathable effect is great!

3. Add some eggshells

Eggshells are a common household item. You can collect the eggshells, wash them, dry them in the sun, crush them, and then mix them directly with garden soil for use. Eggshells not only make the flowers loose and breathable, but also supplement calcium to make the flowers grow stronger!

<<:  The flower grew to 5 meters long. He shaved its head off overnight, and it grew two stories taller in half a year!

>>:  Expired calcium tablets for cold medicine... Take one tablet when growing flowers, and new leaves will sprout, as if they were injected with hormones!
