The correct method of sowing and raising cabbage seedlings

Cabbage is a widely grown vegetable . It not only plays an important role in large-scale agricultural production, but is also grown in almost every household's vegetable garden. In the north, stockpiling cabbage is an important preparation for winter, which makes people feel at ease. Although new cabbage varieties suitable for spring planting have appeared in recent years, autumn planting is still the mainstream, and the cabbage planted in autumn is currently superior in yield and taste. Let’s learn the correct method of sowing and raising cabbage seedlings .

1. Sowing and raising seedlings

1. Choose the right variety

There are many varieties of cabbage, and it is important to choose the one that suits the local climate and market demand. Common varieties include "Jingbai No. 1", "Qiubai No. 1", etc., and should be selected according to specific conditions.

2. Prepare seeds

Choose high-quality cabbage seeds , making sure they are dry, uniform in color, and free of disease. You can soak the seeds in warm water for 12 hours, then dry them for later use.

3. Greenhouse seedling cultivation

In cold weather, you can choose to grow seedlings in a greenhouse. The sowing period is usually from mid-February to early March. Spread the seeds evenly in the seedling tray, cover with an appropriate amount of soil, and maintain suitable humidity and temperature.

4. Outdoor seedling cultivation

In warm seasons, you can choose to grow seedlings outdoors. The sowing period is generally from mid-March to early April. The sowing method is similar to greenhouse seedling cultivation, but attention should be paid to soil moisture.

2. Ridging and leveling

1. Ridge making: Ridge making helps the growth and ventilation of cabbage. Before planting, you need to loosen the soil and level the land, leaving enough space between the rows of cabbage. The ridge height should be about 15-20 cm and the width should be 40-50 cm.

2. Flat Land: When planting cabbage on flat land, choose fertile and well-drained soil. When planting, you can apply an appropriate amount of organic fertilizer to enhance soil fertility.

3. Watering and fertilizing

1. Watering: Cabbage needs sufficient water, but too much water will cause root rot. During the growing period, keep the soil moist and avoid waterlogging. Usually water once every 3-4 days, each time watering the soil thoroughly.

2. Fertilization: Cabbage requires a large amount of fertilizer, especially nitrogen fertilizer and potassium fertilizer. Apply appropriate amounts of organic fertilizer and compound fertilizer at different growth stages. Generally, top dressing begins 15-20 days after sowing, and then top dressing is done every 10 days.

The above is the sowing and planting method of cabbage. Through scientific sowing and seedling raising, land preparation, watering and fertilizing, the yield and quality of cabbage can be effectively improved.
