The peony is gorgeous, but it never blooms. Check if there is something wrong with the watering.

We all know that Chinese literati have had a special affection for peonies since ancient times. The appearance of peonies after blooming is even more stunning. However, it is indeed not an easy task to make peonies bloom. Now, Huahua will introduce to you the daily care methods of peonies. I hope that the peonies in your home can bloom sooner!

1. Soil selection

Although the peony looks noble, its requirements for soil are indeed not high. Generally, sandy soil with good air permeability and drainage will do. If it is not convenient to find, you can also make it yourself. Leaf mold mixed with some river sand is also a good choice. If you want to grow potted peonies yourself, remember to disinfect the roots before planting to avoid subsequent problems.

2. Light intensity

The more light there is, the better the peony will grow. Generally, we can place the peony on a balcony with sufficient sunlight for maintenance. However, when the sunlight is strong in summer, we must pay attention to shade to prevent nutrients from being lost too quickly, which will not ensure the growth of the peony. Peony requires a relatively warm environment to grow, so remember to move it indoors for maintenance in winter.

3. Water requirements

The watering requirements of peonies vary in different seasons. In spring, because the peonies have just survived the winter, when you move them outdoors, you need to water them thoroughly at one time. This will be more conducive to the growth and germination of the peonies later. The best time to water in summer is in the early morning or evening when the weather is cooler. The water will not evaporate quickly at this time, thus ensuring the water needed for the peony's future growth. The weather is cold in winter, so the amount of watering should be reduced appropriately.

4. Fertilizer requirements

For newly planted peonies, do not add fertilizer like you would for other flowers. It is best not to fertilize new peony plants in the first six months, and then start fertilizing normally after half a year. Generally, peonies are fertilized three times a year. The first time is during the spring growing season, the second time is within a week after the flowers have faded, and the last time is before winter. If you fertilize in this way, the peonies will grow more vigorously.

Peony is a very beautiful plant. If it is well maintained, the flower buds will be really big and beautiful. Huahua is now waiting for the peony potted plants at home to bloom. If there are better maintenance methods, you are welcome to leave a message to tell Huahua!
