Saffron, also known as crocus, is a perennial plant belonging to the Iridaceae family and the Crocus genus. It was first produced in Greece and then spread everywhere. It is now grown in many areas.

2. Form

The saffron bulb is oblate, about 3 cm in diameter, and has a yellowish-brown skin on the outside. Its leaves are basal, with 9-15 leaves on it, gray-green in color, about 15-20 cm long, and slightly curled at the edges. It can bloom, with 1-2 flowers on one plant. The flower colors are not single, but white, light blue, and reddish purple. The anthers inside are yellow and the flowers are fragrant.

Saffron likes moisture, so it needs to be watered reasonably on a daily basis to maintain a certain moisture content in the soil. It is relatively cold-resistant in winter, but you need to keep warm when the climate is cold. It can tolerate partial shade, but it cannot grow without sunlight and needs to be given enough light.

IV. Reproduction

5. Application

It has many uses. In addition to being ornamental, it is also a precious Chinese medicinal material. It can be soaked in water and drunk, and has many functions. It can also be used for seasoning and coloring food, and can also be used to make meals.
