The saffron bulb is oblate, about 3 cm in diameter, and has a yellowish-brown skin on the outside. Its leaves are basal, with 9-15 leaves on it, gray-green in color, about 15-20 cm long, and slightly curled at the edges. It can bloom, with 1-2 flowers on one plant.
