How to propagate Milan flowers

Cutting propagation

Cuttings can be made from hard branches or soft branches.

one, For hard branch cuttings, you need to use one to two years old Milan flower branches as cuttings, cut the cuttings into several sections, each section is about 8-10 cm long, and do it in April and May.

For softwood cuttings, semi-lignified branches grown in the current year should be used, and the length of the cuttings should be 10 cm. Plain sand, peat soil or perlite can be used as cutting media.

two, When grafting, you should first make holes in the substrate, and then insert the cuttings. To make the cuttings and the substrate fit tightly, you can press gently with your hands. Then water it and provide shade maintenance.

Layering propagation

Layering propagation can be carried out from May to September, and it is best to choose the rainy season when the survival rate is higher. Layering mainly adopts high pressure method.

one, Preparation before high pressure: Fertilize and water the Milan tree twenty days before high pressure to ensure the healthy and vigorous growth of the plant. Prepare an appropriate amount of tying rope, moss, ring barking knife or grafting knife, plastic microfilm strips, pruning shears and syringes.

two, High pressure technique: 1. Soak the moss in water for one hour, then take it out. 2. Select healthy and well-growing plants, ring-bark the branches, and use a grafting knife to gently scrape the cambium at the ring-barking mouth to break it, in order to allow the new plants to take root. 3. Wrap the moss with plastic microfilm and tie it to the ring-barking mouth.

three, Nursing and management work after high pressure: Strengthen fertilizer and water management, and apply fertilizer and water in time. Carry out disease and insect pest control and spray specific pesticides for disease and insect pest control in time. After the roots of the new plants grow out, you can choose plants with good growth to prune and transplant.
