The fastest way to root jasmine cuttings

The fastest way to root jasmine cuttings

1. Prepare the substrate

Choose a loose, well-breathable substrate. You can choose coarse vermiculite or river sand, perlite and slightly acidic sandy soil. Choose a planting container with holes at the bottom. You can use a plastic bottle, etc., which is convenient for making holes at the bottom.

2. Select branches

Choose one-year-old branches that have bloomed, cut the branches at about 10 cm, and leave 2 leaves. If the leaves are too large, you can cut off 1/2 of the leaves to reduce water evaporation and photosynthesis, accumulate nutrients for cuttings, and increase the survival rate of cuttings. The branches should be kept with more than 2 bud nodes, and new buds will grow from here after being potted.

3. Cutting process

Cuttings can be carried out from May to October, keeping the temperature at 20-25℃. The survival rate can be guaranteed under suitable temperature conditions. Before cutting, make a hole in the center of the substrate, place the branch in the hole, leave 1/3 in the substrate, and lightly press the substrate around the branch with your fingertips. After cutting, water thoroughly and place the planted small pots in a basin with a water depth of 1-2 cm.

4. Maintenance and management

You can take several cuttings at a time and store them in a cool and ventilated place after the cuttings are completed. Since there are no roots, there is no need to fertilize at this time. After 30-40 days, when you see the pot is full of white roots and new buds gradually sprouting from the branches, the plant has survived.

5. Transplant

When the sunlight is not strong such as in the evening, fill the flowerpot with soil, poke a hole in the center, plant the branches with the substrate in the potting soil, cover the roots with a thin layer of soil, and let the seedlings grow for 2-3 days before placing them in the sun for normal maintenance.
