How to propagate Phalaenopsis

How to propagate Phalaenopsis

1. Flower stalk germination method

① Cut off the bracts: first prepare a sterilized knife, then cut off the remaining flowers on the plant, then select strong and disease-free pedicels, cut off the bracts, and expose the buds.

②Hormone treatment: Apply a small amount of indolebutyric acid on the exposed buds to promote growth.

③Wait for leaves to grow: Place the treated plant in a semi-shaded place and wait for it to grow leaves.

④ Repotting and transplanting: Cut off the young plants that have grown leaves from the buds and plant them elsewhere.

2. Seeding method

① Preparation: Observe whether the pods are empty.

② Natural sowing: Plant the seeds released from the cracked capsule in the flowerpot of the parent plant. The soil in the pot of the mother plant may contain symbiotic bacteria necessary to promote seed germination.

③ Rooting: After the seedlings sprout, do not place the seedlings on the ground. Hang them or place them on a shelf to allow the aerial roots to grow smoothly.

④Transplanting: When the plant grows 3-5 leaves, it can be transplanted into a pot.

Note: Natural sowing method is suitable for home planting, but the survival rate is low.

3. Tissue culture method

①Material collection: Take tender stems, receptacles or pedicels, cut them into appropriate sizes and remove excess parts.

②Disinfection: Infiltrate the surface of plant tissue to sterilize.

③ Rinse: Rinse in sterile water 5-10 times, each time for about 3 minutes.

④ Culture medium: Place the culture medium in a high pressure sterilizer for sterilization, insert the explant into the culture medium, and wrap it with wrapping paper.

⑤ Hardening the seedlings: When the seedlings grow to 1-3 roots, plant them under diffuse light.
