Can lotus grow without soil?

Can lotus grow without soil?

1. Reasons

Lotus can survive without soil, but soilless cultivation is difficult and the cultivation effect is not as ideal as soil cultivation, which makes it more difficult to grow, germinate and bloom. Soilless cultivation requires nutrient solution to provide nutrition for the plants, and nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium should be added during planting.

2. Breeding methods

Identify a small lotus variety that is easy to bloom, and then choose a glass tank as a container. When hydroponically cultivating, place the lotus root horizontally on the edge of the water trough or on the surface of sand and gravel, and then use coarse sand and gravel to press down the lotus root so that the front is low and the back is high. Then fill it with clean water and add nutrient solution containing nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, etc., and keep watering once a week. You can also put 1-2 pots of compound fertilizer into the water trough every week, which is also very effective. If the flowers fade, the leaves turn yellow and the temperature becomes lower in autumn, if you want to continue planting lotus roots, you should transplant them into clay pots and overwinter them indoors.

3. Notes

When growing lotus flowers at home, you must pay attention to watering them and prevent them from becoming dehydrated, so you need to water them frequently.

Lotus likes light, so it is best to place it outdoors or in a sunny place.
