How to plant lotus seeds

How to plant lotus seeds

1. Planting method

1. Select suitable ornamental lotus seeds and rub or cut the concave end of the seeds on the cement floor.

2. Soak the seeds in warm water and wait for seedlings to grow.

3. During the germination process, change the water frequently to keep the water clear.

4. Wait for it to sprout in about a week, and when the roots grow to about 10cm, it can be transplanted.

5. Move the rooted plants out of the upper pot, plant one plant in each pot, and keep the water layer at about 3-5cm. It should not be too deep, otherwise it will be detrimental to the growth of the plants. Do not submerge the lotus leaves in water.

2. Maintenance

1. Soil: Choose soil rich in humus and reduce the amount of base fertilizer. If the soil is richer, there is no need to apply base fertilizer to prevent burning of seedlings.

2. Light: At least 8 hours of sunlight a day must be guaranteed, but avoid strong light during midday exposure.

3. Water: In the early stage, the water layer can be controlled at about 3cm. If the water depth is too high, it will be difficult to raise the temperature. During the peak growth season, the water level can be controlled at about 15cm. In addition, add water once every morning.

4. Temperature: It is a thermophilic plant. The temperature must be above 13°C, otherwise it will cause slow growth or rot. It needs to be above 22°C to bloom. It can withstand high temperatures, and temperatures above 40°C will not affect its growth, but you need to pay attention to maintaining the amount of water in the pot.

5. Fertilization: It does not like fertilizer, so when the soil is relatively fertile, there is no need to apply fertilizer throughout the year.
