How to repot and change soil for Clivia

How to repot and change soil for Clivia

1. Time to change soil and pots

It is usually carried out in spring and autumn. Twice a year is best, but if conditions are not suitable, you can do it once a year. Don't leave the pot untouched for a long time.

2. Preparation

(1) Soil: The soil is usually prepared with leaf mold, river sand, pine needles, and charcoal in a ratio of 4:3:2:1. This combination is effective and can help the plants adapt to the new environment more quickly, which is also conducive to good growth in the future.

(2) Pot: Prepare a pot of appropriate size based on the specific size of the plant. If the volume doesn't change much, there's no need to get a bigger pot.

3. Change pots and soil

Turn the pot over, remove the plant, and shake off the soil from the roots. Then, prune the roots, cut off the rotten roots and old roots, and it is also best to cut off those weak and messy roots. If root rot is found, it is best to disinfect it before potting it. The next step is to pot the plant. Fill some soil into the new pot, carefully place the plant in, straighten it, and then slowly fill it with soil. Once everything is filled in, the repotting process is complete.

4. Maintenance after repotting

It is not enough to just replace it, the subsequent maintenance is also very important. If the plant is not properly maintained, it will not be able to adapt to the environment. After repotting, water it thoroughly and place it in a cool, well-ventilated location. And keep the surrounding warm and moist.
