How to prolong the flowering period of azalea

How to prolong the flowering period of azalea

1. Temperature

We need to place it in a place with moderate temperature for maintenance during the bud stage. The temperature needs to be 10℃-15℃ at night and 18℃-25℃ during the day. In addition, if we want to promote flowering, we still need to place it in a higher temperature place. The temperature needs to be 02℃-30℃ during the day and 15℃-18℃ at night. After flowering, the temperature should be lowered to 10℃-15℃ during the day and 5℃-10℃ at night. Of course, the environmental changes cannot be too big, and cold air cannot blow directly on it.

2. Humidity

Humidity must also be controlled, which is a way to prolong the flowering period. Generally, during the bud stage, we need to keep the humidity above 70, but not more than 80. At the same time, we need to keep the ground moist. If necessary, use mist humidification. In addition, if humidification is done by spraying water, it is also necessary to prevent alkali from forming on the leaves.

In addition, watering is also necessary. Generally, smaller pots need watering once every two or three days, while larger pots need watering once every five to seven days. When watering, do not start from the crown of the tree, but start directly from the pot. If some plants have lost water and their leaves have withered, we can use the immersion method to allow them to absorb water. If the flower has already entered its flowering period, we can lower the humidity, which will extend the flowering period.

3. Lighting

We still have to let it live in a semi-shaded environment, and if the temperature is relatively high, we still have to open the vents and keep the air clean. Also, if it's windy, turn off the vent.

When the flower buds grow out, increase the light intensity, but reduce it at the end of the growth stage. This can also increase the duration of flowering, but it also has a disadvantage, that is, the color of the flowers will be darker.

4. Remove flowers

If there are flowers that bloom early, we should remove them, which will play an important role in delaying the blooming.
