Is it a good thing or a bad thing if succulent leaves wilt?

When summer arrives and the weather gets hot, no matter if the succulent plant is dormant or not, the following situation will occur: the old leaves at the bottom suddenly become dehydrated and dry, and it feels like they are about to "die".

In fact, this is a normal aging phenomenon. In summer, the temperature is high and the water vapor evaporates quickly, so there are naturally more aging leaves. Although there is no need to worry, you should also pay attention to the following points:

1. Remove the old leaves after they are completely dry.

When the leaves are completely dried up, the joints of the main stem will heal automatically, and removing them will not cause wounds, and avoid the growth of bacteria or infection.

2. Do not leave the old leaves in the pot after removal.

Don't think that you can leave the leaves in the pot as fertilizer. In summer, when the temperature is high, leaf rot can easily breed bacteria and attract mosquitoes, which will infect the succulent plants and not be worth the loss.

3. Proper water control

The aging process is also the growth process of the old pile. Just after removing the old leaves, do not water it. When you see that the potting soil is dry, water it again after a day to allow the new pile to stabilize.

Wrinkled leaves

If the leaves at the bottom are old and the leaves at the top are wrinkled and not fresh, it means that the tree is lacking water.

Remove old leaves and choose the right time to water

Remove the old leaves that have dried into paper skin. If they have not dried into skin, do not remove them yet. Water in the morning (before 9 o'clock) or in the evening (after 8 o'clock) to avoid irritating the succulents.

Leaves are white and a little wilted

The old leaves below are shrunken, but the leaves above are becoming lighter in color, with a tendency to become liquefied and transparent. This is because the weather is too hot and the water used is beyond the plant's tolerance.

Control water in time and place in a ventilated place

Don't water it at this time. Put it in a well-ventilated place and let the moisture in the pot dissipate in time to avoid root rot.

The leaves are transparent and black, and fall off when touched.

This is a more serious situation. If the leaves have become transparent and fall off when touched by fingers, they have melted into water.

1. Mildly dissolve water and place in a ventilated place to control water

If only a few old leaves have turned into water and the stump is fine, remove the bad leaves and move the rest to a well-ventilated and dry place (make sure to keep it in the shade).

2. Moderately dehydrated, dig out and rescue

If even the main stem begins to melt, dig it out with the roots, keep the good parts, clean up all the rotten parts, and re-root the remaining cuttings.

The temperature is high in summer, and the success rate of cuttings is low, but it is still feasible. Be sure to keep ventilation, avoid direct sunlight, keep the pot soil moist, and throw away the leaves if they are damaged to avoid infecting other leaves.

Or you can use hydroponics to root, dilute the rooting powder with water at a ratio of 1:2000, put it in a suitable container, put the succulents at the mouth of the bottle, do not let it touch the water surface, and be sure to put it in a cool place.

3. Severe waterlogging and black rot, death is declared

If the roots of the succulent plant are rotten and none of its leaves are intact, then it is hopeless.

Leaves shrivel, accompanied by flowering

Nowadays, succulents can be said to be very willful. Not to mention that succulents only bloom in spring, even on the hottest days, there are some stupid "succulents" that don't know the season!

If it is spring, the succulents are in the growth period, it is okay to bloom, at most it will consume some nutrients, and it will be replenished by absorbing more later. OK, I will let you bloom.

But now it is summer, and flowers are blooming even though they are in dormancy. I am really intoxicated by them.

Cut off the flower heads and control water
