How to grow ivy

How to grow ivy

1. Breeding environment

1. Soil: You can use ordinary culture soil, and make sure the soil in the pot is moist.

2. Watering: Ivy likes moisture, so always keep the soil moist. In spring and summer, you can spray water on the leaves or around them to increase the air humidity. In autumn and winter, you should reduce the amount of watering. It is best to keep the soil dry in winter.

3. Light: There must be sufficient light when growing ivy. If it is grown indoors, it is best to place it in the south window so that it can receive better sunlight. It can grow faster and the leaf color will be brighter, but it cannot be exposed to strong sunlight.

4. Temperature: The suitable temperature for its growth is 18-20℃. It has good cold resistance and will not be harmed even at 0-5℃. Generally, it is best to be above 10℃. If the temperature is higher than 35℃, it will stop growing and the leaves will turn yellow.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Propagation by cuttings: Cuttings can be carried out in an environment with suitable temperature. Cut stems of about 10 cm, insert them into the soil 1/3 of the length and then water them thoroughly. Cover them with a film and place them in a cool place. After they take root, plant them in pots and water them thoroughly.

2. Layering propagation: Spread it flat and cover it with some wet sand section by section. Soon after, you can observe new roots appearing, and then you can cut them off in sections and plant them into plants.

3. Common pests and diseases

1. Leaf spot disease: It can cause the leaves to dry up or even fall off. When diseased leaves are found, they should be removed and burned in time to avoid increasing the source of infection. Ventilation and light transmission should be strengthened, and 40% spray 800 times diluted wettable powder should be sprayed.

2. Scale insects: They can cause the leaves to turn yellow or dry. If the area is small, they can be removed manually. If the area is large, they can be removed by spraying with pesticides.
