How to cultivate pennywort

How to cultivate pennywort

1. Breeding environment

1. Soil: The cultivation of catnip requires loose and well-drained soil.

2. Watering: Do not water too much. It is best to keep the soil in a semi-dry and semi-wet state. Reduce or stop watering during the rainy season. Water less in the summer when the temperature is high. It is also okay to water after the leaves are slightly wilted to prevent excessive growth.

3. Light: The leaves will be greener with sufficient light, but do not place it in a location exposed to strong light, as the leaves are likely to be burned. It can be placed in a place with scattered light, but do not place it in an environment with insufficient sunlight for a long time, otherwise the leaves will become smaller and the color will turn yellow.

4. Temperature: When growing catharanthus sempervivum, you must take warming measures in winter and keep the temperature at 5-10℃. If the temperature is too low, it will stop growing. In summer, it can receive sufficient sunlight.

2. Breeding Methods

Cutting propagation: This is the easiest and most viable method. Choose a fuller branch and cut it off. Do not damage the stem when cutting. Cut off the leaves at the bottom. Place it in a cool and ventilated environment, then insert it into the soil. Finally, water it and place it in a cool place. Wait for about half a month and it will take root.

3. Common pests and diseases

1. Rot disease: It is usually caused by excessive watering and lack of ventilation. Most of the leaves rot from the bottom. After the disease occurs, indoor ventilation should be strengthened and sunlight should be increased appropriately. In severe cases, pesticides can be sprayed.

2. Scale insects: Many of them appear during the period of weak growth and when the air is not circulating. If they are found early, they can be wiped with soapy water. If they are found late, they must be sprayed with pesticides.
