How to grow lemon trees well

Lemon Tree Growing Conditions

Lemon trees like warmth and are suitable for growing in an environment with warm winters and cool summers. The annual average temperature suitable for their growth is between 17-19℃. It is best to grow in warm, deep soil, well-drained, gently sloping land. The pH value of the soil should be between 5.5-7.0.

How to grow a lemon tree

Lemon trees can be planted in loose, fertile soil and maintain a certain level of drainage. When caring for them, try to keep them in sunlight for more than 6 hours a day. Water them once every 2-3 days during the growing season and spray some nutrient solution on the plants during the fruiting period.

Watering a lemon tree

In spring and autumn, lemon trees only need to be watered once every 3-5 days. In summer, they need to be watered more frequently and sprayed with water regularly to keep them moist. In winter, they need to be watered less frequently and water should be controlled appropriately to prevent the plants from being damaged by frost.

Fertilizing Lemon Trees

Lemon trees like fertilizer more. They need to be applied with decomposed liquid fertilizer once before germination, and then liquid fertilizer mainly composed of nitrogen should be applied every 7 to 10 days. This can encourage the plant to grow more branches and leaves. During the growth period, some cake fertilizer can be sprinkled on the surface of the pot to enhance fertility.

Lemon Tree Pest and Disease Control

Lemon trees have strong disease resistance and generally rarely have diseases and pests, but you can also prepare some insecticides and acaricides as a preventive measure.

How to grow lemon trees at home

1. When growing lemon trees at home, you need to choose pots with good air permeability. The soil must have good drainage and sufficient water. You can water it every 3-4 days to keep the soil slightly moist.

2. The lemon tree has relatively high requirements for sunlight. You can place it in a well-lit location such as a balcony. It should be exposed to sunlight for at least 5 or 6 hours a day. The best temperature for cultivation is 23-29°C, and it should not be higher than 35°C in summer.

Lemon tree care precautions

Because lemon trees have well-developed root systems, they usually need to be repotted every 1 to 2 years. You should choose a larger pot and prune the tree. Cut off rotten and dead roots, disinfect them, and then repot them and plant them in the soil.
