Method of hydroponic cultivation of Dendrobium officinale

1. Hydroponic method

1. Choose hydroponic Dendrobium officinale

Before hydroponics, you must first choose plants that are suitable for hydroponics. It is best to choose Dendrobium officinale seedlings that have grown for more than 2 years and have been domesticated, or you can cut off some branches and flower buds from old plants.

2. Treating hydroponic plants

Wash the selected plants carefully, remove the soil on them, and cut off the rotten roots, old roots or diseased roots. Then soak them in a solution of carbendazim to prevent the root wounds from being infected by bacteria. After disinfection, place them in a cool place to dry and then you can start hydroponics.

3. Prepare the hydroponic container

When choosing a hydroponic container, it is best to use a bottle with good transparency and a neck, because this will allow the Dendrobium officinale to completely blend into the water. If you can't find such a bottle, you can fix it with tape.

4. Carry out hydroponics

Place the prepared hydroponic plants in the bottle, and then start adding water into it. You can add some plant nutrient solution to the water, usually amino acids or enzymes, apple cider vinegar is also OK, but no matter which one, don't put too much, just a small bottle cap is enough. If you don't want to use these, you can also buy nutrient solution directly.

5. Change water and nutrient solution in time

When hydroponically growing plants, be sure to change the water and nutrient solution regularly. If it is spring, 7 to 10 days is best. If it is winter, the interval can be longer because the temperature is low and the plants consume less nutrients. It is best to change it every 15 days or so. In summer, its respiration rate is large and nutrients are consumed quickly, so the nutrient solution and water need to be changed every 4 to 5 days to ensure its hydroponics.

2. Precautions

When growing it hydroponically, be careful not to leave the roots completely in the water, and leave two-thirds of them outside. In addition, good ventilation conditions must be ensured.
