How to make Rieger Begonia bloom

How to make Rieger Begonia bloom

1. The flower pot is breathable

When growing it, it is best to choose a flowerpot with small holes at the bottom to ensure air permeability. When choosing potting soil, use peat soil or vermiculite as the main materials, so as to ensure good drainage performance.

2. Astigmatism

Although Reiger Begonia likes sunlight, it cannot be exposed to direct sunlight, otherwise it will get burned. Therefore, when maintaining it, you can place it in a place with scattered light, so that you can enjoy the light without getting burned.

3. Keep warm in time

It is very afraid of cold, especially in winter, so it is best to move it indoors in advance for maintenance. And keep the temperature around 5 degrees and you can spend the winter safely. If some areas cannot maintain this temperature in winter, they need to cover it with plastic film to keep it warm, or other good insulation methods can also be used.

4. Water appropriately

Although it has a strong reproductive ability, it is very easy to die if not cared for properly, especially when it comes to watering. When watering it, you should first check whether the soil in the pot is very dry, then check whether the leaves are soft, and finally check whether the whole plant is energetic. If these three conditions are met, it means that you can water it and it will recover overnight. At the same time, choose the time for watering according to the weather. If it is summer, it is best to water in the evening or morning, and the amount of water should be based on the moisture of the potting soil. If it is winter, watering is best at noon on a sunny day, and make sure the water temperature is close to the room temperature to prevent the water temperature from being too low and affecting the roots, causing the roots to rot. In addition, the air is drier in winter, so you need to increase the indoor humidity, for example by using a sprayer, but do not spray the mist on the flowers.

5. Appropriate pinching

When it reaches its growth period, it is necessary to pinch it appropriately so that more side branches can grow and the plant becomes fuller. At the same time, excess flower buds should be removed to prevent nutrient loss from affecting flower development.

6. Proper pruning

When autumn comes, it will grow new branches from the base. When it reaches a certain height, you need to use scissors to cut off the old branches and increase the amount of water to promote its growth, so that it will soon burst the pot.
