Cultivation methods and precautions of duckweed

Soil selection for Nuphar

The pH requirement of the soil for the duckweed plant is not very strict, and it can grow and develop normally under the condition of pH=5.5-7.5. But fertility is closely related to it. When the soil is fertile, there will be many flowers, bright colors, and a long flowering period. The whole plant will grow vigorously and the ornamental period will be long. Otherwise, it will lose its ornamental value.

Choice of water chestnut tank and pond

We chose planting conditions with a tank height of 65 cm, an inner diameter of 65-80 cm, an inner diameter of 1×1 m or 2×2 m, and a depth of 60 cm.

Temperature requirements of duckweed

The average temperature is 16.5-21.7℃, which is most suitable for seedling cultivation in the seedling stage; the most suitable temperature for Nuphar plants: the average monthly temperature ranges from 16.5-24-29-13℃. When the average daily temperature (late November or early December) is around 10°C, the plant stops growing.

Light requirements of water hyacinth

Light has little effect on the growth and development of water chestnuts. It can grow normally under the lighting conditions in Wuhan.

Pest control

To prevent and control water moss, copper sulfate can be sprayed in the water. For aphids, 1000-1200 times of trichlorfon or dichlorvos or 2000 times of 50% dimethoate emulsion can be used to achieve insecticidal effects. To kill insects such as the Spodoptera litura, you can spray 1000-1500 times the concentration of diazinon on the surface of the leaves to achieve the insecticidal effect. Snails can be killed by tea cakes, quicklime, turmeric powder, etc. There is also the field management method, which is to constantly remove water sponges and weeds.
