The Kalanchoe plant grows rapidly, but only grows leaves but no flowers? Come for 1 dollar and I’ll sell you a large quantity in 1 month!

What should I do if the Kalanchoe grows too tall?

The main reason for the excessive growth of Kalanchoe is that it is not pruned frequently. However, by pruning the branches and cutting off the overly dense twigs or diseased branches on the main stem of Kalanchoe, the excessive growth can be inhibited and branching growth can be promoted.

Specific operation of pruning:

1. Cut off the top with sterilized scissors. Do not pinch it with your hands, otherwise the branch wounds will easily become infected.

2. Place the trimmed Kalanchoe in a well-lit place to dry. If there is insufficient light, the Kalanchoe will easily grow tall again.

3. After topping several times, the flowers of the Kalanchoe are full and the new branches and leaves have grown, so they can be forced to bloom.

4. Cover with an opaque black plastic bag or cardboard box or put it in a small dark room for darkness treatment. The darkness time should be more than 16 hours a day, from 17:30 to 8:30 the next day.

5. After about a month, the Kalanchoe will bloom again.

How to deal with cut branches:

1. Divide the cut branches into 10cm seedlings and place them in a cool and ventilated place. After the wounds heal, plant them in pots for cuttings.

2. When grafting branches, just insert a small section of the reserved stem into the soil. The part inserted into the soil does not need to be too deep, as long as it can maintain the stability of the branch standing upright after grafting.

It is not enough to just learn how to solve the problem of leggy growth of Kalanchoe. The most important thing is to learn how to prevent leggy growth.

Pinching seedlings to prevent Kalanchoe from growing too tall

Preventing the Kalanchoe from growing too tall should start from the seedling stage, mainly relying on pinching to promote branch development and prevent excessive growth.

Specific operation of seedling pinching:

1. Find a pair of scissors or a scalpel, wipe it with alcohol first, keep the bottom two pairs of leaves of the seedling, and cut off the top.

2. Place the pinched seedlings on a balcony with good light. After about 2-3 days, two new buds will grow on the top.

3. When the new shoots grow to about 2 cm, spray dwarfing agent to control the excessive growth of side branches.

Prune after flowering to prevent Kalanchoe from growing too tall

After pruning, the Kalanchoe will bloom more flowers, but you still can't relax after the flowers fade. If you want it to continue to bloom next time, you must prune it after flowering.

Pruning after common Kalanchoe:

1. Cut off the withered branches with sterilized scissors.

2. Prune diseased and weak branches to keep the plant full.

Pruning after many years of old piles:

1. Use sterilized scissors to cut off the branches that have bloomed, leaving about 3-5cm of branches.

2. Remove the withered flowers from the cut branches and place them in a ventilated place to dry.

3. Insert the dried branches into a water bottle for hydroponic rooting.

4. About two weeks later, the pruned old plants will sprout new buds and the hydroponic branches will take root.

5. Plant the branches that have successfully rooted into pots.
