How to grow dwarf asparagus fern to make it short and strong

How to grow dwarf asparagus fern to make it short and strong

1. Add less fertilizer

If it is still a seedling, you cannot add too much fertilizer to it. Pay special attention in spring and summer. Do not add too much or too concentrated fertilizer. Once a month is enough. If the tree is already mature, you only need to add a small amount of fertilizer or no fertilizer during the spring and summer, which are suitable seasons for growth. If it needs to be replaced with a new pot, just add some newly prepared soil to its soil.

2. Prune more

If you want it to grow shorter but stronger, you should trim it at regular intervals so that its growth trend and appearance can be maintained. Of course, you must pay attention to the degree of pruning. You only need to cut off the unhealthy or dead branches and leaves, and keep it in a relatively low shape. Pruning it more often can not only slow down its growth rate, but also make it stronger and more beautiful.

3. Drug dwarfing

If you really want it to maintain a short and sturdy shape, you can wait until its seedlings grow to ten centimeters and then use chemicals to dwarf it. You can also spray its leaves with paclobutrazol to slow down its growth. If it has grown up, you can spray some dwarfing agent on its leaves.

4. Choose dwarf varieties

Some varieties of this kind of bamboo are shorter in height, and this variety has no stems and cannot climb, so it can always maintain a small shape. You can directly choose this type of variety to maintain a short and strong shape.
